Bloomington, IN— TASUS is proud to be helping the First Lego League, B-Town Bots from Bloomington, IN. The First Lego League is designed for children aged 9-14 years old, and introduces the children to real-world engineering problems. The team must research a problem, find solutions, and build Lego-based robots to complete the task.

The team has decided to develop a game that will help teach families CPR and how to identify the signs of a stroke. The children on this team are extremely enthusiastic about what they do and their work on these projects in particular.

TASUS had a representative attend a recent team meeting and he was inspired by the team’s passion for engineering. The TASUS representative said that the energy in the room demonstrated how passionate these children were about the work they were doing. The children and their parents showed interest in touring the TASUS plant and learning as much as they could from the company. TASUS intends to shed light on the TPS principles and how they relate to what the team is already doing.

In a time when very few children show interest in engineering it is inspiring to see the passion these young individuals have towards it. We at TASUS hope to help on this project as well as future endeavors by the First Lego League team.

Georgetown, TX—All TASUS facilities participate in food drives around the holidays in an effort to give back to the community. The TASUS facility located in Georgetown, TX typically creates a competition out the food drive, comparing the donations of each shift. This helps to boost participation and ultimately bring in the most food. This year the facility donated a total of 760 pounds of food.

It was a close competition between the 2nd shift and the administrative staff. The second shift prevailed by donating a total of 278 pounds. The administrative staff was not far behind with 233 pounds. One second shift employee, Sandy Hargis, was the difference maker in the end. Hargis donated 45 pounds of potatoes herself, in what turned out to be the winning margin. Regardless of who wins the internal competition the goal is to raise as much food as possible to help those in the community. We are glad to have been able to give back and make a difference, and we look forward to beating this donation amount next year.
